A standard water meter is an instrument used to measure water flow.
It mainly consists of a housing, a metering mechanism, counters, and other components. Water enters the meter through the inlet and flows past the impeller and other internal parts. The flowing water drives the impeller to rotate, with the impeller’s rotational speed proportional to the water flow rate. The counter and the impeller are connected via gear‑type transmission mechanisms; as the impeller turns, the counter records the volume of water that has passed.
The advantages of conventional water meters are their simple structure, low cost, and high reliability, making them well suited to meet basic water‑consumption measurement needs. However, they also have certain limitations: for instance, obtaining water‑usage data requires manual on‑site meter reading, which is time‑consuming and labor‑intensive; moreover, they cannot promptly detect abnormal usage patterns, such as pipe leaks, potentially leading to delayed identification of such issues.
This type of water meter is widely used in residential buildings, small commercial premises, and other settings, making it one of the most commonly employed tools for measuring water consumption.
● The measured water temperature for cold-water meters must not exceed 30°C, and for hot-water meters must not exceed 90°C.
● The maximum allowable working pressure (nominal pressure) is 1.0. Mpa
● Under normal flow conditions, the pressure loss across the water meter shall not exceed 0.063. Mpa
● Indication error limit from the minimum flow rate to the low‑range section, excluding the boundary flow rate: ±5%
● Indication error limit for the high range, from the threshold flow rate to the overload flow rate: ±2%
